Old mixed to new

Old fly tying materials, impressionism and new mixes

My late Dad was an artist. Landscapes done in oils, on canvas. When I was a young boy, he showed me how his blacks were flecked with reds, and purples and greens.  How his greens contained dashes of ochre, browns, yellows.

Maybe that is why I never use dubbing straight out of the packet. Fly tying is art, and I have had influences. Some of them are old influences.

And the mix goes into other mixes….dragons and buggers. I call it the “Ja-Ja”.  Yes, yes…its lives in a deep dark tunnel in the bank, but when it comes out, Mr Brown will be waiting for it!
