I took a break from work the other day, and fished for about two hours on my local stream in the late afternoon. I thought I would share it here….warts and all (Including not catching, losing fish, catching little ones, and hooking logs).
It is not refined videography, and it is not New Zealand; but it is real.
Perhaps it will encourage those who feel outdone by all the slick perfection on offer on the internet. Perhaps some locals will have their eyes opened to what we have on our doorstep in these parts.
I hope you enjoy it.

I enjoyed the video, Andrew. It was nice to see the Umgeni and its brown trout. I’m glad I’m not the only catcher of “tree trout” either! Is there a particular reason you fish the dry on a dropper over the NZ style?
Thanks Justin. The dropper… I am not too particular… It’s just that the dry in question was on a barbless hook, so I tied it to the tag end of the triple surgeons. I also use a rotating dropper sometimes.
Andrew: I did enjoy it. Beautiful stream and countryside. Good angling…no warts. Real fishing. Your stream… as good as anywhere. Perfect browns….
